You're on my short list of authors that I will read literally anything you write. I'm so excited for The Listeners!

I've never been disappointed in a Stiefvater read and at this point I'm convinced I never will. Can't wait to be spellbound, even if it's by a world war 2 book that (inexplicably) is NOT about dachshunds.

Where are readers coming from with the 'we don't like world war II' energy cause I remember when it was all over culture my tumblr dash is all about that sexy pilots show! I fear we may have aged out of the relevant demographic. Anyway, excited for this one, love the setting idea.

The person behind the prose camera metaphor really reminds me of another essay or post you wrote about writing the negative space.

I cannot, cannot be more excited for this, and once again mourning that while I live so close I won’t get to see you on tour, I still yell at the pandemic for messing up the writing retreat. I will make do knowing that my friends who’ve gone on some of the cool retreats had the best experience, and that in under two weeks I’ll have a new Maggie book. So thanks for the fun birthday present!

I remember exactly where I was when I read the first chapter of Lament (parking lot of Taco Time eating lunch in my Toyota Camry.) I knew then that you would be one of my all time favorite authors. This excerpt of The Listeners gave me goosebumps because I can tell you have leveled. Thank you! I can't wait to read the whole thing!

I love listening to authors talk about their books, their experiences, their inspirations etc. I'm not a published author--yet--but I still like to dream through another's eyes and see what they found on their journey.

Yes EXACTLY. No matter what you’re writing, your prose and style and voice are EVERYTHING. And, I’ll repeat myself: opening The Listeners was like stepping into something familiar. You could be writing a dissertation, and your magic will still come through.

The excerpt is fantastic. I've been a fan of Maggie's writing since I was a teenager; I'm not generally into period books, but I'll read anything she writes.
