I’m so happy to see that I’m not the only one who writes in quippy shorthand when they do plot dissection and triage! 😅

I don’t know if it’s the same for someone as established and awesome as yourself, but for me I found it cathartic to break my first and second book’s big fluffy prose back down to its bite size bits and toss it around for a bit to remind it who was boss (before it then ripped the reigns back from me with side-eye and did what it wanted 🤦🏻‍♀️🙃)

You’ve mentioned in seminars that a book’s storyline (perhaps incorrectly worded) is fully worked out in your head before pen hits paper, but wow. I’ve “watched” the physical search for cliffs, settings, cultures with awe. To avoid the utter mayhem of my current M.O., I’ve got to incorporate at least a modicum of scaffolding in my next work. This visual is excellent, simple, and adaptable. A needed kick in the keester.
